Lite line 1 or 2 lbs test and small jigs!! And my Vex!!!!!

the thing that seems to work for me is  a spring  jiggin rod with a glow in the dark jig with a wax worm about two to four feet of the bottom

I use 6# Spider wire Super Mono & catch most of the gills on an Arnolds gold plated teardrop jig tipped with some waxies. On a good year with some ice that lasts for a while I can usually put 600 to 900 gills in the freezer & munch on them 'till next ice.
