I think it depends how you rig for cusk/burbot. If you're using a hand rig on a stick where you only check it once a night my guess is a cuskasaurus will find a way to bust 27 lb.. I have limited experience targeting them, I use tipups with a light to alert me when the flag trips. My tipups have either 27 or 36 lb. line depending on how the spirit moved (or spirits flowed  u:)) when I was spooling them. It works ok, I've done well and haven't lost a rig in a couple of years.
