Power supply
« on: January 01, 2018, 02:55:57 PM »
Could anybody give me some info or using portable jump boxes for running lights in a shanty.  I want to get one and have it down to 2 boxes.  One from harbor freight that said it has a max charge of 900 with 17ah sealed battery and has on usb port and two 12v ports.  The other is a Stanley at Sam's that has a max charge of 1000 with one12v port and 4 usb ports.  The Stanley does not list the ah hours other then it says 6.4ah combined.  Does that mean it can support 6.4 ah for each receptacle or it just has a 6.4ah battery in it.

Get whichever is cheaper, imo. Your not lighting up a stadium just running some low drawing led lights. Hell, you could run your flasher off it and charge your phone at the same time. Those things jump cars. The tiny trickle of juice needed to run little gizmos will hardly be noticed. IMO

Jiggerman, here is a unit I bought my son for his bass boat and duck boat. It has USB ports for charging phones and a power supply plug for lighting in a shack. Also, has a work light built in as well. Nice to have on the extreme cold days when the battery draws down on a quad or snowmobile with electric start. I purchased it at Lowe’s. Don’t remember what I paid for it.

I use a spare vex battery for my shack lites. That way i have a spare battery onboard in the event my graph battery dies. I only use the shack lites until the sun comes up.

I purchased a portable battery box made by Bold North Outdoors.  It houses my 12v 12ah battery and has switches for two two sets of terminals.  I run my lights on one and fan on the other.  Has dual USB ports to charge my phone, flash light on front and a cig socket too.  Thing works awesome.  O recommend checking them out.  www.boldnorthoutdoors.com  plus it's a veteran owned company.
