Belmont?
« on: February 25, 2017, 09:53:01 PM »
Hi all,
Some of you may not even consider it. But I was at a bait shop today and heard of 4 guys going up to Belmont
and that there was 7 inches of ice. Also know that there will be freezing temps overnight.
Any word on this lake would be appreciated.      Thanks, and catch the big one, Rob

I would not even try it.  There was very heavy rain and very high winds today up there.  Possibly even tornadic activity.

Ice yes, Safe ice? The only way to know that for sure is to go up there and test it and keep testing it as you go. But by tomorrow the place will be inaccessible due to heavy snow. IMO this turkey is done, stick a fork in it!

Take a ride up there and let us no. But like fm said im done either way and that ice aint gonna support 20 inches of snow. Whatever ice is there will sink.

HI all,
So I made it to Belmont. There was 3 inches of clear ice this morning with the shore almost all locked.
It supported me fine (I weighed 185 and heard no cracks on the actual ice) But like fm said, the access
road will be quite tough after the storm. Do they plow here at all?

After a blizzard and possibly 20 inches of snow I don't think that little access road will be a high priority. Besides would you really want to go out on 3 inches of ice with millions of pounds of snow on top? Forget about that just walking in it would be a heart attack try dragging your sled you won't make it to the edge of the lake.
