Nice Lily Lake Pike

littlemack01, sent me a pic of his recent pike catch up at Lily Lake. It's the first one I have ever seen that was caught through the ice. That make a total of three since I've been in this business. One on the PFBC site one that a member's wife caught open water and this one. Great catch!

That's interesting. There aren't a lot of places to catch them around here on top of that is there? Aside from private stocked places?

Not many. They have.been stocking them in there for years, but very few are ever caught. Lily, the.pack, (not stocked) and the north branch are the only public spots in NEPA that I know of to get them. The river being the surest bet imo.

I really have to congratulate littlemack01 on this catch. They are tough to get in Lily for  whatever reason. I have tried at least a half dozen times and came up with only pickerel and bass. If I remember correctly this is his second or third in a number of years.

FM, Thanks for getting this on the site. When you get one of these in PA , you want to be able to brag a little . Next is to get one out of the pack !

There used to be a really good pike fishery in Lake Ontelaunee years ago. I once saw a guy release a 34 in Northern because he already had two nice Pike on the ice. Been a long time since I have heard any news of pike there. Now a days seems to be all about the Muskie.

Big report on Fly Fishing PA about natural reproduction of muskies on the susquehanna north branch

"The PFBC recently identified a viable population of naturally reproducing muskellunge in the North Branch of the Susquehanna River and so stocking will be dropped there."

more to come, interesting stuff
