Keeping Busy in the Thaw
« on: January 20, 2017, 09:46:03 AM »
I've been keeping myself busy to stay positive during this thaw. I put a runner kit on my flipover. Played around with the.jump box power for it and cut a light plywood bottom to tidy things up inside. I also found a bigger boat, a real river tank. It's  not a jet yet but it has an powered.lift for the moter to tilt it up.away from obstacles.  Its not at all attractive but I'm getting really excited about all the catfish I will be catching this spring and summer.

sweet, sure does sound like you have been busy.
Yea the warming isn't looking good for the lakes not frozen or not frozen well.
But all the lakes that had 10-12 inches are still fine.
But again, with the warm up it's creating lots of openings, pressure cracks, and those nasty springs are totally opening up.

Stay positive and fingers crossed that the cold will return.   :?

FM... throw in a photo of the new craft!

Last night I took my 3 baitrunners and stripped off the old line and I'm giving them a good cleaning and lubing per the manual.. I was surprised at all of last years river crud that was built up in the spools.

The boat is not in my possession yet. It's in a shed at a marina. They are going to get it in their shop and go over the motor, make sure every thing is hunky dory then I will get an on the water demo in April. If I like it, I get to take it home. Like I said it is an ugly duckling which is perfect for me. I tend to be tough on things, anything nice and new would be wasted money in my hands. That might be her name, the
UGLY DUCKLING. lol

FM, I was pretty much on the same wavelength... I dragged my clam into the basement and gave it a good cleaning (first one since last year, lol). Then added a couple rod holders and cleaned up my lighting a little bit. I have a clam big mouth and it has an expandable bar in front, the thing kept freezing up on me so I took it apart and sanded it and gave it a coat of silicone. Hope it helps cuz I love the extra room. I thought of adding a wood base but figured it was heavy enough as it was!
When Hell freezes over, I'll ice fish there too!

I didn't get much done this weekend, but I hope to have wheels on my smitty sled by the time we get back on the ice. ANd I wanna mount some rod holders on the clam.

THis thaw actually came at a good time. I had to take my son back to Bloomsburg yesterday and this coming Sat. I have to take my daughter to a swim meet. Hopefully we'll be back on the ice by 2/4!

got a call from Matt at Misty Mountain Taxidermy sayin my striper mount would be ready soon. So with no safe ice on my local lakes perfect time to get the driftwood cleaned and ready to mount on the wall.
