http://bigbluegill.com/photo/img-0007-2?context=latest  Tuesday 1/10 :Got out on the ice for the 1st time with brother Greg on the Monksville Reservoir . Fish hit good .We got 10 Pickerel , 3 real nice Crappie and 10 small Bluegills . The best tecnique was a 1/4 oz. Swedish Pimple with shiner heads or tails attached .Of my fish this approach got 5 Pickerel and 2 Crappie .The Crappie caught on the spoon were 15 and 14 " .Bigger that the 12" I got on the tip up. We fished 10:15- 5:15

Prefer jigging panfish over setting up tip ups but do both .Use a Hummingbird ICE35 flasher unit .Fish mostly Cupsaw Lake but Waywayanda ,Vernon Valley Lake and Shepherds lake too. Greenwood and Hopatcong  and Green Turtle Pond a few times also.

Greetings from PA.  Nice crappies, 1/4 oz. is a pretty big lure, I usually go smaller for the calicos, but obviously it works

Yes 1/4 oz. is a big lure for Crappie generally but  no Pickerel cut me off on that rig. I got 5 of them as well as  2 Crappie on that setup,  I did get one cutoff (Pickerel)  on my tiny teardrop Bluegill jig . I agree with you on using smaller baits for better numbers perhaps at times ,long as there are no Pickerel around .
