Best glo jigs?
« on: December 28, 2016, 12:05:30 PM »
I noticed last week when I was night fishing that there is a BIG difference between some of my glo-jigs! One in particular was a lot brighter and lasted a LOT longer than the others. Unfortunately I lost it and can not remember where I got it or what the name of the glo-jig is. I have a couple others, but they hardly last more than a few minutes and then I have to recharge. I have a ultra-violet recharger, but it is a PITA to have to recharge every couple minutes!

I wanna get some more, but don't want to get these crappy glo-jigs. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

brantner jigs.  unbelieveable glow and its lasts 20 minutes.  use the blue uv light to glow them up.  idk if he is making them this year cuz his website is down but i do know that if you check his facebook, he is selling them thru a baitshop in iowa.  theyre worth it. they are tungsten

The PK mini spoons aren't bad, they hold a glow pretty well, crappies like them tipped with a waxie or small minnow.

VMC all the way they are fair price and have regular lead or tungsten. Tubby jigs are my # 1 waxy jig#2 and pug bug #3. Cabela's had them on sale just stocked up on the 6 pack variety think I paid under 5 bucks for regulars and 8 for tungsten. Best hooks too use VMC hook all seasons. Glow last and very bright. Check them out.

So here's a question for youze. do you just put them on a forget them or actually use a hi intensity light to charge them up every once and a while. I have loads of jigs labeled glow but never took the time to charge them. Do ya?

I use a high lumen flashlight, I think it helps to have something to attract attention to the bait at night.   Every time I check the bait and notice it's not glowing I'll hit it with the flashlight again.  On a really hot bite it probably doesn't matter if you already have them schooled up and feeding underneath you.

one of my favorite crappie jigs is the neon tiger from jammin jigs.

FM, if they glow, I charge them! I was at the local Lowes looking at the flashlights while on the checkout line, they had a UV flashlight that was made for finding scorpions. It was only around $7 so I picked it up. With just a minute it would light up my jig and the glow plastics I use from VMC.
When Hell freezes over, I'll ice fish there too!

A couple years ago I picked up a Rapala Mini Charge 'n Glow. Think it was $15. It is a small hinged box with a blue UV light. Just close the box with the jig inside and push the button to charge(with jig on the line- it has a hole for the line to come out). Works great and even has a lanyard.

I always charge the glow jigs at night when I'm fishing. If I notice the glow is gone or nearly gone, then I recharge.
