considering lowrance x67c -> Elite 5 Chirp/Hook 5
« on: December 22, 2016, 11:44:51 PM »
i've owned the x67c for many years and have been pretty happy with it.  however, i've been looking at upgrading to the Elite 5 Chirp/Hook 5, mostly for the Chirp technology, GPS and bigger screen.  better resolution/separation would obviously be great, but it's tough to tell how much of that is real and how much is hype.  anyone have hands on experience with both of these machines that can compare them?  do you catch more fish with the Chirp technology?  if i can get better visibility in thick weeds, for example, it is probably worth the upgrade.

thanks,
-garrett

Tough to beat that x67c. My son uses one on the ice. Very simple and will do all that the others will do....help catch fish!!!😎

I have had my 67c a long time and and it's a great little unit , But I did upgrade to get a little more penetration for deep water lakers , , but I'll never get rid of it , i take it most of the time on Oneida for perch and eyes

2X I've been through a bunch and still love the 67c
I've had the elite4, 5/WGPS and now the 7CHIRP sold the 4 and 5 but still rock the 67 allot.

Have had the x67c for yrs ...same battery same charger...I'd buy another one before anything else because for the money it's already paid for itself,I've asked same question and with all the other gadgets it's battery life that seems to be main concern...look into gps handheld units if that's what you want with lake chips or similar

If your interested in GPS a cheap way out is get the nav app on your phone it's $10.00
Also take a look at the factory outlet at the bottom of the page sale prices plus factory rebates , far as battery life is run a 9 AH and dim the back light down that  will extend run time , I get a full day , now they have lithium batteries,  lighter , longer life span , con , the price , the 3 and 4s took the place of the old 67and 68 units you can make a call to make sure but I believe your old transducers will plug into the new 3&4 , on the bigger units they made a connector cable , I did that with the 5 this way you could just buy the head to save some money , I've dealt with lowrance several times and they have been very good

What up G! You know my feelings on this. I personally wouldn't upgrade but you can compare with JT I think he has the 5.
If you don't want to know what a 67 year old

probably shouldn't ask him!
