How Much snow?

We had 6" at Frances Slocum. Won't hurt any of the lakes here abouts. The little ice they had just sank under the weight and will soak up. Next cold spell it will freeze right up on the plus side it will dampen any wind that happens too.

down here in the Poconos we got a few inches then it rained on top. Any harm it did will be repaired and then some by wednesday. Ice will most likely be good by the weekend. Good time for a spud!  &:
When Hell freezes over, I'll ice fish there too!

i wonder how much the snow will insulate lakes with a 2 inch cap on them?  its gonna be below 0 in some spots thurs and friday.  how much can snow insulate in temps like that?  maybe itll just freeze the snow solid after all the melting today

That's the thing is how wet the snow gets. We had cookie dough snow thick wet and heavy. I could see it soaking up through the ice on FS state park today. All that weight pushes down the ice and the water comes up through any crack or opening it finds. Once it is soaked through it will freeze up and make that snow ice. Its good enough when it is below freezing but softens up fast when the temps climb. Around me i don't think it hurt anything. It was all skim. Up at Toby I'd be careful and check as you go. If anyone tries it this weekend.

We had about 6 in northern Susquehanna county. I'm gonna head out in the next day or 2 n check some local places. My normal spot was snow covered Saturday morning so hoping it will be good for the weekend
