Down but Not Out
« on: November 21, 2016, 09:00:35 AM »
I woke up Sunday morning with a terrible pain in my left side neck and shoulder. It was bad. I went to the emergency room later in the morning and after getting a cat scan was told that I have two herniated discs in my neck. I apparently have been living with this for quite a while as I was not in any sort of fall or accident lately. My hopes are to follow the recovery procedures and be back up a running asap. Meanwhile if you have any website issues please do not expect immediate solutions for the next few days. I will be checking the site a few times daily.
thanks
FM

Do what you have to do to get back on your feet. It sucked the year I had foot surgery and the Dr. said no ice fishing that winter as I had my surgery on December 8th. Thoughts for a speedy recovery.
Another 3 pound perch trow it back.

Do what the Doc's suggest...  X ray and MRI.....Treatments...

I have the same thing! I just found this out last week as well....
My c5 and c6 bulging disc...  c6 and c7 osteoarthritis in there too! Swelling causing the pressure against the nerves which go down your neck, shoulder, arms to your hands... yepper... sucks...
But, they also seen another issue on my spine in that spot and I'm waiting to schedule some further advanced tests..  sooo.... this is our life...  ::)

You'll be ice fishing!!!  Don't worry!!!

Dave, I wish you a speedy recovery. The thing about herniated disks is that it takes a while to weaken the disk. Like you believed, you've been working on this for a while. Anything could have been the last straw, even rolling over funny in bed while you were sleeping or a strong sneeze... anything. Been there, done that. But like I said, you've been working on it for a while, probably has something to do with your posture as you were working or some repetative movement that put your spine in an awkward position long enough to bulge and weaken the disk. If you want to fix the problem and have it never happen again you gotta figure out where and when the original damage happened and figure out a better position and movement. Good luck!
When Hell freezes over, I'll ice fish there too!

Disc issues suck! My mom has had 3 spinal fusions over the years. I'm hoping I didn't get her genes in that regard!  ;)  So far only muscular problems.

Hope it settles down for ya! (You too Cowdawg! )

Bad time of year to be "out of commission!"  :-\
