time to hang up the cleats?
« on: February 19, 2016, 11:25:00 AM »
I haven't been out since last weekend. Then we had 50s and rain. This weekend is going to be 50s again. How's the ice holding up out there? Any one willing to share if they know of a lake with good ice still? I know when I was out last weekend some of the smaller lakes were on the decline. I hit the pack and it was solid and doing well down toward Ledgedale and ironwood. I'd like to get out Saturday somewhere. With this weather it may be the last try. If anyone knows if some where is good.. or bad... let's hear it. Otherwise out with the short rods, huts, heaters, and augers.  And in with the long rods, flat bottoms, and outboards.

On that note. Anyone know of lakes that are open water? Harveys? Sylvan? Beltsville?  Etc.

If I can't ice fish. I'll open water fish...
 but not fishing...
that's not an option. ....

I'm sitting on 6 inches of nice ice at preachers camp at Beltzville.
The lake is open at the pine run ramp to the dam also. Mauch Chunk was also good
Yesterday. Tuscarora is decent , but mostly snow ice and will come apart quick.

You will certainly find some good ice this weekend as mentioned above.  There just isn't enough ice out there to hold through much more warm weather or rain.  Sylvan and Moon had good ice today.  Not that I caught anything to take home...

Went to Rock Lake - Narrowsburg NY, yesterday and today, 7 - 8 inches of ice, fish were sleeping no bytes...
