Fishing the pack

I never iced fished there before. Planning on going up there today within the next couple hours. Where are you allowed to park to get access? Do you still pay at Ledgedale and ironwood? Thanks.

you don't have to pay at Ironwood. Never been to Ledgedale. Don't have to pay at Sterling or Wilsonville either.
When Hell freezes over, I'll ice fish there too!

Sterling has been getting pounded the last couple of weeks not saying you won't catch fish there mostly dink perch and pickerel. If I were you I'd try getting on at ironwood less pressure and I'm sure guys have ventured out there over the weekend. Only thing is the hill.... The gates closed in the winter so you have to park on top. easy drag down but coming out we'll you know.... just be careful going out don't know how thick the ice is there.

I was up at sterling on Saturday. Yup, tons of dink perch and pumpkin seeds. Lots of alewives. The occasional prowling pike. It's like, that place is a big nursery and the toothies go there to forage.

Me and slaphappy were out all day.. Unlike some I will share with you what I no.we started out of sterling we had a atv so we were able to get out and punch holes on virgin ground. We went out to the point before ironwood everything in between was 6-9 inches of ice found no more or no less. We fished a lot of trees, stumps and brush, verified by the camera. Few holes produced some nice perch and a gigantic bluegill. Seems if you found a good hole you could get a few nice perch. Flats 15-20fow neer deep water seem to be most productive. Slender spoon tipped with a waxie was hot jigging and some nice perch on a dead stick with a shiner. Good luck!

I tried to get on up near the beach at Wilsonville. No luck ice was barely over 2 inches. I ended up down at ironwood. There was quite a few people around the launch. I didn't venture far I just punched holes around the launch area. Picked up some ok perch and gills.  No monsters. I'd like to get back out there a few more times and try to get on some trout or walleye.  But that's not looking good. It's a lot of water to cover and there's not a lot of time left. Hopefully it makes it till the weekend I'll give it another go.
Where do people get on with 4wheelers?

after this rain and the warm weather we're gonna get, I wouldn't ride a sled or quad on that lake for anything.

Just remember no guts no glory... If your smart about things you can get away with a lot. That being said I kinda wish this winter would just stick a fork in it cause all that good progress we made the past few days was all for not...
