Keystone Lake

Fished Keystone Lake in Westmoreland County yesterday and today.

Yesterday started early. 4-6 inches of clear ice in one part of the lake. 1-2 of clear ice in the bottom half near the dam and up at the road. A little cracking early on but it disappeared by days end. Picked up one decent perch in the first hole about a minute after arriving then three rainbow trout throughout the day. Couldn't find a single fish on the flasher all day long. Fished 6-10 feet of water and drilled about 15 holes.

More ice today. The entire lake was locked up but still a little nervous because so much of it was open just 24 hours ago. Found 6-8 inches of ice everywhere we fished but still stayed away from the deep end near the dam, which unfortunately is supposed to be the best area to fish. Drilled 10 holes in 6 to 11 feet of water but didn't find a single fish on the flasher. Wind was blowing snow into the holes as soon as they were drilled which was a pain. No fish and dad was too cold to continue so we headed home after a short while.
