Well, I stopped on the way home and picked up a pair of 8x25's. Technically, I'm right between the 8x25's and 9x30's. When I am in shape, I'm right at the limit of the 8x25's, so we'll see how they work!  ;)

LOL! Already had a few chuckles!  ;D  I just tried them in the front yard. I think they will work well for what I want to use them for. If I was gonna be doing a lot of snowshoeing thru the woods, I'd probably go with the 9x30's, but since I want them for the lake, primarily for staying on top of the slush, I think they will work just fine.(and be more maneuverable)  8)

Well, I tried them on the lake today. WOW! I did good going with the 8x25's! There was maybe 8 inches on the lake, but spots where it drifted 2-3 feet. I went out with my 13" Lacrosse pac boots with spikes. Didn't absolutely need the snowshoes, but it was sure a lot easier with them! And in the deeper drifts they really shined! Really glad I made the investment!  8)

Man hauling your sled thru snow builds character.  6" of snow on Shawano Lake in WI and our snowshoes made hauling a whole lot easier.
