Keeping Mousees
« on: December 24, 2014, 02:30:05 PM »
Just receives a small batch of Mousees (100) and since I haven't used any for a few years I'm not sure what temperature suits them best. Seems like I just kept them in the fridge last time and that worked fine. Any info appreciated. This just in...... Never mind ; just found the answer on Knutsons site. 36-42 degrees; refrigerator.

Keep a close eye on them, I was never able to keep them for more than a few weeks, check for dead ones often, then can be hard to come by once in a while

10 bucks a hundred and free shipping; worth the risk, I figured. The last time I had them they lasted very well, but that was years ago. They have been in short supply at most PA bait stores the last few seasons.

The ones I got were listed as black  mousees. Also, they were listed as larger than the regular ones, which is why I bought them. They are dark brown and 3/4 -78 of an in. long, and fat. Actual color is dark brown. Just checked and they are doing well in the back of the fridge at 40.

I have found some of the best places to keep ice fishing baits is on the outside wall of your house..if u can set then right on the foundation is better then setting them on the wooden sill plate. Plus then the wife does not get mad when she opens what she thinks was left overs!!!
