Brian from Expedition Outdoors reminded me that they have a nice line of snowshoes. One in particular looks especially good for us, the Ice Walker. The price is good too $$

yeah, I just saw your post on the other thread. those shoes look great and the prices can't be beat but I worry about those ice walkers. Do you think they would be any good for this kinda snow that we got or would they be more for a thinner crusted kinda snow, like 6 or 8 inches of crusted snow instead of the 2 ft of snow with slush and mixed crusts. I'm lookin at the classics, thinking they might be better all around, just not as maneuverable as the walkers.
When Hell freezes over, I'll ice fish there too!

I was out on Promised Land Lower Lake yesterday and there was a thin crust on top of the 10 or 12" of slush. It hardened up a bit from Sunday when I was on our local lake(little bit thicker crust). At times I stayed on top of the crust, but when trying to move fast or carrying something, I broke thru. Think the ice walkers would give you just enough "floatation" to stay on top. Probably not as good in deep snow as the longer versions, but I think better on the ice.
