2/23/12 Trip Report
« on: February 23, 2012, 05:57:36 PM »
Guided fellow guide dick P. and his friend Jim today on Winni, two really nice guys. dick bought his trip at the NH Guides' Association Banquet auction. The day was a little on the slow side but we still managed enough for a good feed. We had fish under us the whole time but they were finicky. High winds prevailed just after noon time. For lunch I served steak tips and squash on the grill, that helped stave off boredom. Two of the fish landed were a 14" & 14 1/2" crappie! Thank god I bought that new shelter this year. We were able to stay out of the rain and then the wind, and be comfortable!

Yeah I'm feeling pretty grateful. It is a very short season but a quality one.

I gotta believe with the lack of fishing pressure this year that next years gonna be one for the record books providing we have ice....

With the lack of snow the deer populations looking really healthy around hear we just may see some record bucks too... hopefully they walk under my tree stand.  ;D

Looks like a decent outing despite the weather    The new style hub shelters are the Balls  Set them up in a few minutes and mine has the Thermal fabric makes a difference in the wind  Makes those windy days much nicer on the ice

Yeah the hub style is great, I love it. One thing I have learned is that from now on I will take snow or slush from drilling holes and cover the anchors around the shelter to keep the sun from melting them loose. They don't come out but the shelter loosens up and moves more in the wind.
