November Walleye (when everything goes right)
« on: November 21, 2010, 11:22: PM »
I had to give the river a second chance after getting the walleye  <8= on last Thursday. I went to a spot I am starting to think of as Walleye Shores. If they every build a bunch of condos on it that would make a fitting name. It is just one nice long shoreline of ideal walleye water, today the eyes were home. As I walked down the tracks it didn't take a Lindner to know that the big ole snag laying in the water was going to hold bait and that there would be eyes hanging out in the little back wash behind it waiting to slurp down any minnows that strayed too far from safety. I had to lower myself into position with my rope and spent the next hour and a half slippin and slidin on the steep muddy bank, but I limited out with a 22", 20" a couple 18's and a couple 16's. Nice afternoon! all came on the little green and red powerbait tail, white lead head, with wild shiner combo that is my standard at this time of year. The fish this year have all been nice and mostly legal size. I broke off a good one after the first 5. My fault for getting so absorbed in the catching that I forgot to retie. I caught one that was about 14". Another interesting thing this year is that I have yet to catch one that has any of the tumors that have been a hallmark of Susky eyes for the last 10 years or so. Must be something the gas companies are putting in the water is helping to cure the walleye tumors.  ;D ;D ;D

nice work FM.  tailgrabber and i were out on the delaware again this morning, he bagged a small eye and i pulled in some decent smallies.  nothing like the action you're seeing, i might need to make a road trip to the susky.

You really have them dialed in, I wonder what the night bite is like right now.

Once the moon gets out of the picture it should be great. I'm not a big moon fan. Biggest problem is staying safe. You need to know the area you are in and not get too adventurous or you can get hurt in a hurry. I caught a lot of eyes under a bridge at night. I had them dialed in back then too.

I wasn't a big fan of the moon but this year the moon charts have been working pretty good for me on the musky. Keep in mind that weather ALWAYS trumps the moon charts. Here's the site I use for the Solunar Forecast:  http://www.solunarforecast.com/solunarcalendar.aspx

there is an app called FishCal for the iPhone that i've been using.  not sure i believe any of it, but convenient to have it in my pocket.

Hit the river today and a big old skunker!!!! I must be doing something wrong. I dont understand. I usually catch fish. I guess I need a professional to show me how its done.LOL!! It was a nice day besides the gusts of wind. I took my wifes step father with me. We hit the river at 10 am and fished till 2pm.The river was still up. Bait fish all along the edges. Had 2 nice hit ,but still came up empty handed. Like I said , I must need a pro to show me how to catch walleyes. LOL !!!!!
