An awesome 6 days of steelies!

This is really a Nemo post that was edited and moved and somehow in the process got attributed to me. Just to keep the record straight. lol


We'll as most of you know me and steelie1 headed north for some reel screaming, rod bending chrome  on the beautiful Salmon River in upstate NY. After hearing that the water condition were low we didn't expect to catch all that many fish.  Boy was that not the case at all. We had three great days of fishing and  with some really nice fish landed not counting how many we had on. The fish were taking a variety of flies and egg sacks but stoneflies seem to work the best, I did get most of my fish on a white rabbit streamer. The mornings were cold but once the sun came up we had some absolutely beautiful weather and fishing.  We started fishing  Wendsday march 3rd late afternoon with just one fish landed by steelie1 Thursday Day 2 was my best day                                                                            This buck is ready to fertilize some eggs                                                                                                   FishON!                                                                                                                                     Friday Day 3 and the rods are bent again                                                                                      Steeli1 with a nice fresh hen                                             Friday afternoon we went down low and found some fresh steelhead that we couldn't hold onto  I only landed one fish out of five hook ups. And steeli1 lost a tank. Notice how silvery this one is             Saturday day4 was steelie1's best day he had the hot rod in the hole.                                                                                             Most anglers were fishing the upper section of the river near altmar.                                                                                         And the best for last...The two big bombs of the trip.

I love late fall and winter. Nice pics.Took the wife up for Thanksgiving once. She dropped me off in altmar and I fished down to the trestle and never saw one person.

This is not my trip I don't have steelie trips like that! lol Mine are more fishing and less catching. I reposted Nemo's original thread here for some photographic seed. I will try to find some time to hunt up some of my steelie pics and get them posted this weekend.
