I used some of the stuff around the house for mine. I have some Tight Lock rod holders & some light fence posts. I cut the fence posts to 36 in & flattened about 8 inches of each end in a vise. One of the ends I cut with a hacksaw to make a point & finished it off with the grinding wheel.

To the other flat end I attached a short peice of 1 by & clamped the Tight lock to the wood.

The Tight Locks have an infinate adjustment & can be moved in any direction to adapt to any shoreline situation.

With the rod on the holder, the fence post is actually "springy" & if you set it at an angle to the water any tug on the line is greatly magnified.

Out side of solid rock, these holders will anchor in just about any shore line. With the flat sharpened  bottom you can slide them in between the slightest cracks between the rocks & they will go into the hardest gravel. I think I am goin ta get a patent!

Hey Shike I like that, I might have to look into some of them. My tip up's are good on rockie shore line but there to low to the ground, and my other one are only good in soft dirt. Where did you get the holder's.
Keep your line wet, A dry line will never catch a fish.

I have off tomorrow

Cabelas has them. I also use them on the boat. They clamp onto any type of fishin boat & are great for fishin directly below the boat in deep water. When I fish at night for trout with the long rods they work great!
