REDNECK ENGINEERING/New Pair of boots
« on: June 17, 2008, 08:26: PM »
It has been a while since I had anything new to add here but this is a goodie. Back in April they have a tradition around Kingston Township that goes well with the urge to do some cleaning in springtime. Just toss out the used up or useless stuff that we accumulate over the years and get a fresh collection started. I had my first pair of neoprene waders in hand and was about to toss them on "the pile". I had gotten these at a going out of business sale at a really nice sporting goods place on the side hill of Hughstown or Duryea. This was back about 1989, the place was a total sporting stop like an Outdoor World is today. Anyway these waders were really nice ones. I could have continue to use them in spite of a few leaks. They were so well insulated that I didn't get cold from the little water that crept in and got my crotch and right leg wet, even on the coldest steelheadin days. I thnk I have already mentioned once today, that I am a tight wad, and will use stuff until it is totally spent. So as I'm getting ready to toss the old boots out I got this inspiration. I grabbed a pair of Scissors and cut off each boot foot just below the knee. I just tried these new boots out in the very wet grass tonight and they will be great for all the cold catfishin and eye chasing I do along the river in Nov and Dec.
Now that is what I call recycling Algore!

That Kingston Twp. tradition is becoming a secret, no one in my moms neighborhood knew when it was this year, I missed out.

This year's Spring Cleaning turned up a pair of Orvis 5mm Neoprene Bootfoot Waders that were laying on the top shelf of my closet for the last 7 years. I bought them when neo was in - before I realized that breathable waders and Cold Gear undergarments keep you just as warm, don't weigh 40lbs, and don't make me feel like the Michelin Man.

Besides, I think I once had a mini stroke trying to get them off... :)

anyways, I put them on Craigslist for $50, and stashed them in the shed outside.
I had a buyer lined up and when I grabbed them from the shed, I discovered that Mr Mouse was busy gathering nest material - from several spots on the legs and even the crotch area - where a patch would never hold..

Sale cancelled.

butt,

I'z nowz gotz the most comfy pair of muck boots I ever owned.. ;D

plus

with the 800gram Thinsulate lining I can fill these puppies with ice and chill down a few beers in these size 13 bad boyz... ;D

Redneck Engineering - just in time for summer... YEEHAH !!!!
